Spy thriller set in Australia and Ireland.
Life is about choices. But what if the outcome is a choice between saving the life of your beloved sister or that of a thirteen year old girl who has danced her way into your heart, in a way that no one else has ever done before?
Séamus Faolán McQuaid feels himself doomed until he meets a young girl dancing in the Australian desert. She has an unharnessed freedom about her. He senses within that tiny body of hers an unencumbered spirit representing all that he yearns for in himself. It is during the short drive to the local town that their spirits connect and it seems she is drawn to him, for reasons of her own, as much as he is to her.
Experiencing the different facets of Charlea over the next couple of months begins within Séamus the slow unravelling of an emotion, deeply buried. It comes to him with sudden clarity, some weeks later, that she is the fountain of life to his burnt-out existence. This is followed by an overwhelming awareness that he is an empty shell, merely existing from one day to the next, a prisoner to his past, while she is as wild and free as a brumby.
It would be so easy to befriend her and her father, a man he has grown to admire, but to do so could well put the lives of those closest and dearest to him in mortal danger. And, yet, to turn his back on Charlea, would be like eclipsing the sun.
